PIRHL Kicks off Jamboree weekend and the turning of a page.

The PIRHL will kicks off the 2008/09 season with jamboree games being hosted at Hotshots, Island Sports Center and Blade Runners.  The PIRHL continues to be the foundation for Inline hockey in Western PA and will continue that tradition this coming weekend.  It’s already been an exciting year as the board has added some new faces in Commissioner Tom Ward, Vice-President John Hunter and Secretary Annette Fleissner.  Tom Ward joins the board after spending a few seasons coaching in the Pine Richland program.  Tom also has work on the disciplinary board and as referee in the league.  John Hunter is no stranger to the PIRHL board; he was one of the original board members back when the PIRHL was first formed.  John has spent countless hours as a volunteer to the league and to the Central Catholic program that he founded.   Annette Fleissner comes to the board after spending last year as the Pine Richland president where she helped the program grow to where it is today with six teams.  The PIRHL board is rounded out by veterans President Jim Lorish and Treasurer Barry Bohn now in their fifth year as PIRHL board members.  Barry also head up the Seneca Valley program and also doubles up his duties with the PIRHL as the league’s scheduler.   Jim Lorish has gone above and beyond the call of duty to make this league successful, Jim has been involved even though his son graduated two years ago from the North Allegheny program, his passion for the game has not gone away.  He continues to volunteer his time to the PIRHL and to date has been the only PIRHL president in the league’s five year history.

The PIRHL would also like to say “Thank You” to the following volunteers, Secretary Alexa Heller, Commissioner Joe Voloch and Vice President Joe Catena for their many hours of service and dedication to making the PIRHL the best it can be.

If you ever see any of these individuals around the rink please take a moment to let them know how much you appreciate everything they have done over the years to make the PIRHL a great place to play!

Good Luck to all the teams playing this weekend and remember to keep it fun.
